Snap Zones

Drag a window onto Poni and drop it on a layout tile. The window moves and resizes into that spot, for example the left half of the screen.

Settings → Snap Zones

How to use it

  1. Start dragging a window by its title bar, and keep the mouse button down.
  2. Still holding it, move the mouse onto Poni at the top of the screen. Poni opens and shows the layout tiles.
  3. Move over the tile you want, for example Left. The tile lights up.
  4. Let go of the mouse button. The window snaps into place and Poni shows Snapped.

Changed your mind? Move the mouse off Poni before you let go. Poni closes and the window stays where you drop it.

The window is placed on the display where you let go, inside that display's work area. So it doesn't cover the taskbar, or the Keep windows below Poni strip when that's on. Maximize maximizes the window. Center puts it in the middle, 70% of the screen wide and 80% tall.

On Windows 11

Snap Zones is on from the start on Windows 10, but off on Windows 11. Windows 11 has its own snap bar that appears when you drag a window to the top of the screen. To use Poni's Snap Zones on Windows 11:

  1. Turn on Snap Zones in Poni's Settings → Snap Zones.
  2. Open Windows Settings → System → Multitasking → Snap windows.
  3. Turn off Show snap layouts when I drag a window to the top of my screen.
