Cat Buddy
A little 3D cat that hangs under Poni and watches your mouse. Click it and you can chat with it through AI Chat.

Turning the cat on
The cat is off at first. Open Settings → Cat Buddy and turn on Show the cat. It shows up under Poni right away.
What the cat does
- Its head and eyes follow your mouse. Its pupils grow when the mouse comes close.
- It blinks and twitches its ears now and then.
- While music plays, it bobs its head along.
- When you leave the mouse alone for a while, it dozes off with a “Zzz”.
- Rest the mouse on the cat for a moment: it squints happily and little hearts float up.
Options

| Hide with Poni when it auto-hides New | When Auto-hide tucks Poni away, the cat goes too. Turn it off to keep the cat at the top edge of the screen. Default: on. |
| Chat with the cat New | Click the cat to ask AI Chat something in a speech bubble. Same conversation as the AI Chat tab. Default: on. |
Chatting with the cat New
The cat uses AI Chat, so you need an API key first (see AI Chat). Without one, the bubble says Give me an API key in Settings → AI Chat & Translate and we can talk. with an Open Settings button.
- Click the cat. An Ask me bubble opens next to it with an Ask anything… box.
- Type your question or request and press Enter. For example: “When is my meeting today?” or “Remind me in 20 minutes to drink water”.
- While you wait, the bubble shows three dots. The cat tilts its head, looks up and nods slowly, as if thinking.
- The answer appears in the bubble, and the cat squints happily for a moment.
- If the cat sets a reminder, adds a todo or does anything else, it shows under the answer with Undo, as in the AI Chat tab. The Todo, Notes or Pomodoro button opens Poni on that tab.
- The bubble shows only the latest answer. The whole conversation is in the AI Chat tab. Click the wide arrows button (Continue in AI Chat) in the bubble's corner to carry on there.
- What you ask in the AI Chat tab also shows up with the cat, and the other way round. To start fresh, use New chat in the AI Chat tab.
The bubble closes when you click its × button, press Esc while typing in it, or click the cat again. It also closes by itself after 30 seconds untouched. It stays open while the mouse is over the bubble or the cat, while you're typing, and while an answer is on its way.
With Hide while Poni is open on, opening Poni also closes the bubble, because the cat hides.
