Settings
Every Poni option lives in the Settings window. Each change applies and saves right away, with no Save button.
The gear in Poni, or click the Poni tray icon
Opening Settings
- Open Poni and click the gear at the top right. Poni closes and Settings opens.
- Left-click the Poni icon in the tray, or right-click it and pick Settings….
- Start Poni again, from the Start menu for example, while it's already running. Settings opens.
Settings opens on the General page. The menu on the left is grouped into Poni, Modules, Poni & system, Integrations and About. This guide explains each page in its own part.
Welcome
An introduction page: a short description of Poni and cards for its features. It opens by itself the first time you start Poni. There's nothing to set here.
Modules: which tabs you see
In Settings → Modules you choose which tabs appear in Poni, and in what order.
- Open Settings → Modules.
- Tick the box on the right of a module to show it, or untick it to hide that tab.
- Click the up arrow (Move up) or down arrow (Move down) to change the order. The order here is the order of the tab icons in Poni.
The modules are Home, Dashboard, Shelf, Todo, Notes, Pomodoro, Weather, Health, Screen Time, Day Progress, Bluetooth & Wi-Fi, System, Translate, AI Chat and GitHub. All of them are on from the start, except Translate and GitHub.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open this module by default | The tab Poni shows when it opens. Only modules that are on are listed. Default: Home. |
| Remember the last module | Poni opens again on the tab you used last. When it's off, Poni always opens on the default tab. Default: off. |
The Shelf tab also needs Shelf tab on in Settings → Drop Actions & Shelf, and the System tab needs Show the System tab in Settings → System Monitor.
Size and opacity
Set these in Settings → General → Size. Width and Height are for the closed Poni. When music or an alert shows, Poni grows wider from this size.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Width | Width of the closed Poni, 120–320 px. Default: 200 px. |
| Height | Height of the closed Poni, 22–44 px. Default: 32 px. |
| Opacity when closed | Lower it to see the apps behind Poni while it's closed, 20–100%. Poni turns solid again while you hover, when it opens, and for alerts. Default: 100%. |
| Expanded width | Width of the open Poni, 560–780 px. Default: 680 px. |
| Expanded height | Height of the open Poni on Home, Dashboard, Shelf, Pomodoro and System, 170–260 px. Default: 196 px. |
| Expanded height (tall modules) | Height for the tabs that need more room: Todo, Notes, AI Chat, Bluetooth & Wi-Fi, Weather, Health, Screen Time, Translate, Day Progress and GitHub. 220–340 px. Default: 268 px. |
Preview while you resize New
When you drag the Expanded width, Expanded height or Expanded height (tall modules) slider, Poni opens so you can see the size as you go. It uses a tab that matches the slider. For example, while you drag Expanded height (tall modules), Poni opens on a tall tab like Todo. About 1.5 seconds after you stop dragging, Poni closes again.
Other options in General
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Launch at login | Poni starts when you sign in to Windows. You can also tick it in the tray menu. Default: off. |
| Show Poni in screenshots & recordings | Turn it off to hide Poni from screen sharing, Snipping Tool and screen recordings. Default: on. |
| Bounce on events | A small spring animation when something new happens, like an alert or a song change. Default: on. |
The other options on the General page have their own parts: position and displays in Getting started, Closed Poni and Clock in The closed Poni, and Auto-hide in Auto-hide.
Keyboard shortcuts
Set these in Settings → General → Keyboard shortcuts. Type the key combination in the field, for example Ctrl+Shift+Space, then press Enter or click outside the field. The modifier keys you can use are Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Win. The main key can be a letter, a number, F1 to F24, Space, Enter, Tab, Esc, an arrow key (Up, Down, Left, Right), Home, End, PageUp, PageDown, Insert, Delete or a punctuation key. Clear the field to turn that shortcut off.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open / close Poni | Opens or closes Poni on the display where your mouse is. Default: Alt+N. |
| Switch modules with Alt+Shift+← / → | Goes to the previous or next tab. Only active while Poni is open, so other apps can use these keys while Poni is closed. Default: on. |
| Snooze Poni | Hides Poni for the Snooze duration. Press it again to bring Poni back. Default: Alt+Shift+H. |
| Snooze duration | How long a snooze lasts, 5–240 minutes. Default: 30 min. |
If a shortcut does nothing, another app may already use that combination. Try a different one.
Back to the defaults
Settings → About → Reset all settings puts every setting back to its default. Your subscribed calendars, local events and API keys are removed too. Poni asks you to confirm first.
