Auto-hide New
Auto-hide tucks Poni away above the top edge of the screen. It comes down when your mouse touches the top edge, so maximized windows get the whole screen. This part also covers two other options for the space at the top of the screen.
Settings → General → Auto-hide
How it works
- Turn on Auto-hide in Settings → General. Poni slides up above the edge of the screen. Only a thin 4 px line stays visible.
- Move the mouse to the very top edge of the screen, right where Poni is. Poni comes down. If Open on hover is on, it opens straight away.
- Move the mouse away. Poni closes, then slides back up about 0.7 seconds later.
Poni still comes down by itself for things you should see: alerts and reminders (volume, battery, meetings, tasks, prayer times) and new song titles from the sneak peek. Once the alert is over, it slides back up.
Want to use Drop Actions or the Shelf? Drag files to the top edge of the screen, where Poni is. Poni comes down, ready for the files.
Long-running live activities, like music or a Pomodoro, don't bring Poni down. Touch the top edge to see them.
The Cat Buddy hides along with Poni. To keep the cat visible at the top edge, turn off Hide with Poni when it auto-hides in Settings → Cat Buddy. See Cat Buddy.
Keep windows below Poni
This option reserves a thin strip at the top of the screen, like a taskbar but at the top. Maximized windows start below it, so Poni never covers browser tabs or title bars.
The strip is as tall as Poni's Height (Settings → General → Size), on every display that shows Poni. While Auto-hide is on, the strip isn't used, because the whole screen goes to your windows. The strip is also released when you pick Hide Poni in the tray menu.
Hide when an app is fullscreen
When a fullscreen game, video or presentation is in front, Poni disappears. As soon as you leave fullscreen or switch to another window, it comes back. A normal maximized window, which still has its title bar, doesn't count as fullscreen.
Turn this option off if you want Poni to stay on top of fullscreen apps.
While a fullscreen app is in front, Poni hides on every display, not only on the display with that app.
