The Poni app
- No account, ads or telemetry. Poni doesn't send your usage data to us.
- Settings, todos, notes, Screen Time and other data are stored only on your PC, in the
%APPDATA%\Ponifolder. - Poni only goes online for these features:
- Weather (on from the start; you can turn it off in Settings → Weather): your city's coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo. Until you pick a city, Poni guesses it from your PC's time zone.
- Prayer times (if you turn them on): in Indonesia, your city name is sent to
api.myquran.comto get the Kemenag RI table; elsewhere, your city's coordinates are sent to Aladhan (api.aladhan.com). - Calendar: Poni fetches the iCal links you enter yourself.
- GitHub: uses the token you enter to read pull requests.
- AI Chat and Translate: the messages and text you send go to the provider you choose: Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude), or an OpenAI-compatible service with your own API key, or to Ollama on your own computer. AI Chat history is stored only on your PC.
- Updates: Poni checks for and downloads new versions from GitHub Releases.
- Tokens and API keys are stored on your PC, encrypted by Windows (DPAPI).
- Wi-Fi: the list of nearby networks is read from Windows and isn't sent anywhere. Windows 11 asks for Location permission for this feature, but Poni doesn't use or send your location. Wi-Fi passwords go straight to Windows, which stores them the same way as when you connect through Settings.
The poni.web.id website
- We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, where they come from, which pages they open, and how often the download buttons are clicked and the demo video is played. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as approximate location (city/country), device type and browser. This data isn't used for ads. You can opt out with a tracker blocker or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. See also how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- No ads.
- The pages ask GitHub (
api.github.com) for the latest version so the download buttons always point to the newest file. This request goes straight from your browser to GitHub and is covered by GitHub's privacy statement. - The website's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts (
fonts.googleapis.com), so your browser connects to Google's servers when you open a page. - Downloads are served by GitHub Releases.
- Like most web servers, the hosting provider may keep technical logs (such as IP address and time of access) for security and operations.
Support & payments
QRIS payments are processed by the bank or e-wallet you use, and Gumroad payments are processed by Gumroad. We only receive the information those providers pass on for that transaction.
